My new series of video works features an intimate diary, formally comprising short photographic entries in a thematically non-chronological, episodic format. It is visual research spawned by constant internal conflicts between different needs and impulses in my personality, such as sudden aggression, search, pleasure, outbursts of crying, and the constraints of reality versus various inner feelings.
The world is presented in black-and-white to emphasize the realism and absurdity underlying the everyday. The saccharine-sweet scenes appear as though they were shot in Hollywood's Golden Age; at the same time, they mark a turning point manifested in the depiction of a gray, dark, blurred cosmos which represents an inner world, an expressionism which conveys a dark, somber atmosphere, alongside extreme feelings evinced in the shattering of my internal and external image.
The viewer is granted a peek into my personal diary as a "sociological test" of sorts. The cinematic tools I acquired in my film studies reinforce the affinity between the world of cinema from which I hail and the art world, enhancing the confusion regarding my everyday reality and the sense of losing the way. In view of nature (embodied mainly by animal images), the family and social ethics are no longer clear to me, invoking intricate questions of morality and justice which are introduced by means of VOs of interviews with great artists and intellectuals who predicted the future of art in the past.
